A Start to Jimmie Men’s Volleyball Season

Your Jamestown Jimmies Men’s Volleyball team comes in this season as the 10th ranked team in the nation, after finding success in their 2022 season. Last year the Jimmies won the GPAC Conference after defeating Morningside in 3 sets in the semifinals, then beating Ottawa in 3 sets, to once again, win the GPAC conference championship, for the second year in a row. The Jimmies would then go onto the NAIA Men’s Volleyball Championship pool play where they would meet up with Aquinas College, where the Jimmies would win in 3 sets, but falling in their next match up to the number 1 seed Grand View Vikings in 3 sets.

This season the Jimmies are ranked 10th in the nation but will have to do without some key pieces from last year’s teams. Players like Samuel Jackman, who was a NAIA First Team All-American, Tanner Woods, who was a NAIA Second Team All-American, and Korben Philip and Braden Neuman, who where honor mention All-Americans, will all be missing from this year’s team, but seniors like Downey Huyh, Ever Cancel, and Caylor Cox will be players to be looking out for this year while the Jimmies look to continue their reign of dominance over the GPAC.

The Jimmies hope to start their season 2-0 with matchups at home, with a pair of in conference games, first of which is a match up against the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes on Friday, January 23rd, and a match up against the Central Christian State College Tigers the next day on Saturday, January 28th. Kansas Wesleyan went 2-17 last season with a conference record of 2-8, and Central Christian State went 0-11 last season with a conference record of 0-10. We look forward to cheering on our Jimmie Men’s Volleyball team!
