After A Successful 2022 Campaign, Run or Dye: Color Fun Run is Back Again

On Saturday, April 15th the Run or Dye: Color Fun Run is taking off on campus at the University of Jamestown for just the second time. After a successful run last year, it was all too obvious that this should become an annual event. The event begins at 11:00 AM and includes a 2 miles run/ walk. Check in begins at 10:00 AM outside of the Raugust Library. The event is open to all ages and all are encouraged to participate. The entry fee is $15 and a white t-shirt is included with the fee. Be sure to register in advance to secure the right size.

UJ’s Exercise Science Club started this event last year and it’s organized by their President Sophie Kreklau. The club uses the proceeds to help fund their activities that include putting on events, meetings, and going to seminars. You might be wondering, what could possibly make a run fun? If you’ve been running and never had a bunch of paint and dye thrown at you then I guess you wouldn’t know. It’s a lighthearted take on the dreadful cardio we all grow to avoid. As Sophia said, “It’s not about winning the race, it’s about enjoying the experience with friends and family. There is no first place prize.” She also informed me that the dye will be able to be washed out of the clothes you wear. As people approach the end they will be doused in color, each attracting a cool collection of color as they go through the course. With weather permitting, it’ll be a great opportunity to get outside and exercise in a unique and exciting way.

After the run Sophie has organized for food, music, and games on Allen Field.

The Exercise Science Clubs mission is to promote health and fitness across the campus and community and they deserve a lot of credit for coming up with a fun way to do it. If you’re an exercise science major or at all interested in joining the club you can contact Sophie at sophia.keklau@uj.edu. If you want to make an impact on the health and fitness of UJ and its community then this is the club for you.
